The role

Ann’s Children’s care is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, organised and professional Deputy Home Manager to be part of the team at their new children’s residential facility in Ardee, Co. Louth.

Working in a supervisory role and in collaboration with the Home Manager you will help guide the team in the delivery of high-quality social care in a safe and therapeutic environment in accordance regulatory requirements and Ann’s policies and procedures.

Principal responsibilities

  • To assist the home manager in creating and maintaining a caring, safe, stable, and professional environment for both the young people to live in and the staff to work in and deputise on behalf of management in their absence
  • Have clear knowledge and understanding in relation to the National Standards as well as relevant legislation and how this translates to practice
  • Ensure that staff have clear knowledge and understanding of such legislation, policies and procedures
  • Undertake the role of Designated Liaison Person (DLP) in supporting staff in their awareness and understanding of their duties as mandated reporters in line with child protection procedures
  • Be able to cover on call as and when required
  • Support management in ensuring the day to day running of the home including appropriate delegation of tasks to staff
  • Oversee budgets such as petty cash and ensure the home and staff are complying with relevant policy and procedures such as Health & Safety
  • Good attention to detail and excellent communication skills both written and oral
  • Attend team meetings and facilitate meetings such as supervision, team meetings, present as multi-disciplinary meetings such as Child in Care Reviews / Looked After Children Reviews
  • Complete identified pieces of monitoring work as directed by the home manager
  • Oversee, supervise and develop the skills of staff in their daily working practice.
  • Complete internal audits on key work files to ensure all is in line with National Standards and company policy and procedures
  • Ensure and undertake supervisory responsibilities, including the written supervision of care team support workers, within legislative time scales.
  • Oversee, write and edit all reports when submitted for meeting and reviews.

Qualifications Required

Level 7 qualification (degree) or above in one of the following:

  • Social Care
  • Social Work
  • Health and Social
  • Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy
  • Youth & Community
  • Teaching
  • Nursing
  • Social Science
  • Addiction Counselling
  • Counselling / Psychotherapy
  • Family Support
  • Disability Studies
  • Applied Behavioural Analysis
  • Early Years Care

Level 8 qualification (Honours degree) or above in one of the following:

  • Psychology

Experience Required:

  • At least 3 years relevant experience working in children’s residential care (2 years must be at team leader level)
  • Flexibility to work shifts if required.
  • Up to date knowledge of legislation surrounding Residential Childcare and Safeguarding
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary working with a range of professionals in the industry
  • Ability to deliver reports and meet deadlines.
  • Full driving licence and business insurance
  • Flexible approach to meet business needs as the role may entail covering evenings / weekends.
